05-day course on "Investigation of Cyber Crime," sponsored by I4C concluded on 14-10-2023
A 5-day course on "Investigation of Cyber Crime," sponsored by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi, commenced at the S.K Police Academy Udhampur on October 10, 2023, and concluded today. This marks the first of its kind course sponsored by I4C and organized at the S.K Police Academy Udhampur, with participation from 27 police officers ranging from the rank of Sub-Inspectors to Deputy Superintendents of Police from different states and union territories. Among the participants, there were 2 officers from Haryana, 2 from Kerala, 4 from Gujarat, 1 from the Union Territory of New Delhi, and 18 from the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
The course was designed as a capacity-building tool for investigating officers of law enforcement agencies from various states and union territories to address the growing challenge of cybercrime in the virtual space comprehensively and in a coordinated manner. Throughout the course, there were extensive discussions, deliberations, and practical demonstrations covering a wide range of cybercrime types, including Phishing, Vishing, Cyberbullying, Email Bombing, SMS Bombing, Analysis of CDRs/IPDRs, IP Address tracking, IT Act and its Amendments, Bank Frauds, Mobile Forensics, Email Tracing, as well as the collection and preservation of electronic data. Standard Operating Procedures for seizing computers and mobile devices, Email Forensics, Steganography, Cryptography, and Hashing techniques were also explored.
A valedictory function was organized for the course's conclusion. Shri Rajinder Kumar Gupta, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police and Deputy Director (Indoor/Trainings) at SKPA, was the chief guest. He was accompanied by Shri. Sheikh Zulfkar Azad, SSP, Deputy Director (Administration), and Shri. Sukhvir Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Assistant Director (Administration). In his valedictory address, Shri. Gupta emphasized the importance of staying updated with modern techniques for handling cybercrimes, especially for first responders who need to know the appropriate actions when a cybercrime is reported.
The course featured eminent speakers, including Er. Neeraj Dubey from GCET Jammu, Dr. Gaurav Varshney from IIT Jammu, Sh. Gagandeep Singh from the Cyber Police Station in Jammu, and Sh. Nayeem Abass Hamdani, a Cyber consultant for J&K Police, who delivered lectures to the participants. The valedictory function was also attended by Inspector Chander Mohan, Incharge Trainings, Inspector Rohit Gupta, Course Director, HC Randip Singh, Course Secretary, and other faculty members of SKPA.
